The boots in this category get searched for as après ski boots or after ski boots, but the category is wider than boots: a lined clog does the same job on a dry night, and a foam bootie does it in the condo. The Surefoot Après Clog
The Après Clog is Surefoot's own, and it is the same clog that sits in the shoe line. Premium suede in khaki and black, full-grain leather in brown, all three lined with genuine shearling that regulates temperature and wicks moisture rather than simply trapping heat. The outside carries a Scotchgard treatment for wet conditions, the outsole is high-traction rubber, and the footbed is contoured EVA.
What makes it a Surefoot shoe rather than a lined clog is what sits under your foot. Every Après Clog comes with a personalized insole included, shaped to the arch profile you pick, and you can upgrade to a full custom orthotic milled from a scan of your own feet. It is the same model as the rest of the Surefoot shoe line, and the natural next pair for anyone who already knows what a Surefoot footbed feels like inside a ski boot.
It is a shoe for the lodge, the drive and the walk from the car, closer to a slipper than a boot, so keep it for dry ground and packed snow rather than deep or wet snow. Sizes run in paired men's and women's numbers, M4/W5 to M13 in suede and M8/W9 to M13 in brown leather.
Fubuki Niseko 3.0
Fubuki is a Swedish brand with a Japanese boot. Kalle Norman found the original boots on a student ski trip to Hokkaido in 2016, tracked down the factory that made them, and launched the brand with Christofer Ljunggren in 2019. Fubuki is the Japanese word for snowstorm. The shape comes from traditional northern Japanese fishing and road worker boots, and Fubuki has kept it.
The Niseko 3.0 is the third generation. The outer shell is EVA foam, which is what makes the boot both light and warm, because the insulation is the shell itself rather than a layer stuffed inside one. Fubuki lines it with a soft wool blend, drops in a two-layer removable insole, and finishes it with a cleated rubber sole and a shock-absorbing heel. Fubuki calls the boot 100 percent water resistant and rates it to -30 C against ISO 20877.
It comes in two heights. The High is the tall version, over the ankle, for deep snow and the long walk from the car. The Low stops below the ankle and is quicker to pull on for an errand. Both are sized on one unisex scale, EU 37 to 46 here, and Fubuki's own advice is to take the smaller size if you are between two. The colours we carry are on the product cards above.
Line booties and the Lange Podium
Line's Après Booties are the soft end of the category, closer to a slipper than a boot. The 1.0 has a cinch pull on the tongue and a collapsible heel pocket, so you can crush the back down and wear it like a slide or pull it up and wear it like a shoe. The 2.0 is the heavier one, with cinch lacing and what Line calls a full-on grippy outsole. Both carry a thick layer of Intuition foam in the footbed, the same foam name you see in aftermarket ski boot liners, and Line says it will mold to your feet. They are sized XS to XL against a chart rather than by a number, so check the chart against your street shoe size.
The Lange Podium shoe is the slip-on, in Lange's Legend Blue race colour and in black and white. Lange's own description is comfort, walkability and grip, which is the whole brief. It is sized in mondopoint from 23.5 to 29.5, so it takes the same number as your ski boot.

What is après footwear?
Après footwear is what you change into when the ski boots come off, for the lodge, the parking lot, the walk to dinner and the drive home. Après is French for after. The category runs from tall snow boots like the Fubuki Niseko, which is what people mean when they search for après ski boots or after ski boots, to lined clogs like the Surefoot Après Clog and foam booties you wear like slippers. What they share is that nothing about them is rigid. A ski boot is a plastic shell built to hold your foot still. Après footwear is built to let it move.
Are Fubuki boots warm?
Fubuki rates the Niseko 3.0 to -30 degrees Celsius, or -22 Fahrenheit, measured against ISO 20877, the standard for cold-weather footwear. The warmth comes from the shell rather than from a liner stuffed inside it. The whole outer boot is EVA foam, which insulates on its own, with a soft wool blend lining inside and a two-layer removable insole underfoot. Fubuki also calls the boot 100 percent water resistant and builds it on a cleated rubber sole. If you run cold, wear a thicker sock and keep both insole layers in.
Do après boots and clogs run true to size?
Check each product page, because the makers size differently. Fubuki says to take the smaller size if you are between two, because the Niseko is cut roomy to leave space for a thick sock. The Surefoot Après Clog uses paired men's and women's numbers, so an M9 is a W10. Line booties come in XS to XL against a size chart, so measure that against your street shoe size. The Lange Podium shoe is sized in mondopoint, the length of your foot in centimeters, the same as a ski boot.
Which of these can I wear in the snow?
The Fubuki Niseko. Fubuki calls it 100 percent water resistant and builds it on a cleated rubber sole for snow and slush, which is what a tall snow boot is for. The Surefoot Après Clog is closer to a slipper: shearling inside, suede or leather outside with a Scotchgard treatment, and a rubber outsole that is fine on a deck, a dry path or packed snow for the walk to the car, not in deep or wet snow. Line booties are for the condo and the lodge. Dry everything at room temperature and away from direct heat.
What is the 30-day wear test?
Everything Surefoot sells online is covered by the 30-day wear test. Wear them, walk in them, take them outside. If they are not right, return them within 30 days of delivery for a full refund of the product price. There are no restocking fees. Return shipping is paid by you, the original shipping charge is not refunded, and the refund goes back to the card you paid with once your return arrives.
