Dalbello has built ski boots in Asolo, in the Italian foothills below the Dolomites, since 1974, when Alessandro and Giovanna Dal Bello stopped making boots for other companies and started making their own. The brand is known above all for one idea: the Cabrio, a three-piece shell. A normal ski boot is two pieces of plastic that overlap across the top of the foot. A Cabrio is a lower shell, a cuff and a separate tongue that sits outside the shell over the instep. Dalbello did not invent the layout, but it brought the design back in the 2000s and has built its line around it ever since.
Surefoot fits the Cabrio in two widths. Cabrio LV is the low-volume shell, 99 millimeters across the forefoot, and it is the one for a narrower foot and a skier who wants the plastic close. Cabrio MV is the medium-volume shell at 101 millimeters, with more room across the forefoot and softer flexes, from an 85 in the women's line up to a 120 for men. Both share the three-piece flex, which builds as you press your shin into the tongue rather than arriving all at once, and both open wide at the instep, so a high instep that fights an overlap boot has somewhere to go.
Which shell and which flex you need comes from the shape of your foot and how you ski, not from how a boot feels in the shop for five minutes, so every Dalbello fitting at Surefoot starts with a 3D scan. Your fitter uses the scan to choose the shell and the size, and the boot can go home as it comes. If you want more, a custom orthotic holds your foot in a neutral position and a foam-injected Surefoot liner fills the space between your foot and the shell. Both are options at any fitting, not a requirement.

What is a three-piece ski boot?
A three-piece boot, also called a cabrio, is built from a lower shell, a cuff and a separate tongue that sits outside the shell over the instep. A standard ski boot uses two flaps of plastic that overlap across the top of the foot instead. The three-piece design flexes forward through the tongue, so the resistance builds through the turn rather than arriving all at once, and the open lower shell makes the boot easier to step into. Dalbello's version of the design is the Cabrio.
Are Dalbello ski boots good for wide feet?
The Cabrio MV is 101 millimeters across the forefoot at a size 26.5, and the Cabrio LV is 99 millimeters. Both run a millimeter or two wider than the same low-volume and medium-volume labels on other brands, so a foot that is borderline elsewhere often has room in a Dalbello. Width is only half the question. A three-piece shell also leaves more height over the instep than an overlap boot, which matters more than forefoot width for a lot of feet. A scan settles it before you try anything on.
What is the difference between the Dalbello Cabrio LV and MV?
LV means low volume and MV means medium volume. Cabrio LV is 99 millimeters across the forefoot, holds the foot closer to the plastic and comes in the stiffer flexes, including the 130 that took over the role the old Krypton played. Cabrio MV is 101 millimeters, with more room through the forefoot and softer flexes, and it is the shell the women's models are built on. Both use the same three-piece construction. If you skied a Dalbello Panterra, the Cabrio MV is what replaced it.
Do you sell Dalbello ski boots online?
No. Ski boots and liners are fitted in store only. The shell has to be chosen on your foot, and a custom liner or orthotic, if you add one, is built the same day. Which Dalbello boot is right for women?
Dalbello's women's models carry a W in the name. We fit the Cabrio MV 85 W and the Cabrio MV 95 W, both on the 101 millimeter medium-volume shell, in sizes 22.5 to 26.5. The 85 suits skiers still building mileage and the 95 suits stronger skiers who are out most of the day. Dalbello also builds women's Cabrio models on the narrower low-volume shell. Your fitter chooses by foot shape and by how you ski, not by the number on the box.
How does Dalbello sizing work?
Dalbello sizes in mondopoint, which is the length of your foot in centimeters, so a 26.5 fits a 26.5 centimeter foot. The Cabrio shells we carry are listed at the half size and run from 22.5 to 30.5. Each one is a full size of shell, which means a 26 and a 26.5 are the same piece of plastic with different padding. Width is quoted at 26.5 and steps a little wider or narrower with each full size. At Surefoot the scan gives us your measurements, so you never size a boot from a chart.
