Salomon started in Annecy, France, in 1947 as a workshop making ski edges, and its rear-entry SX boots of the 1980s won World Cup races and put the brand in the boot business for good. The current alpine line is the S/Pro, and Surefoot fits three versions of it. S/Pro Supra is the all-mountain boot: a 100 mm medium last closed by a BOA dial and cable instead of forefoot buckles, so the lower shell wraps the foot evenly and can be tuned a click at a time through the day. S/Pro Alpha is the narrower, buckled boot: a 98 mm last with thinner shell walls and a second buckle set at 45 degrees to pull the heel back into its pocket without crushing the instep. S/Pro Race is the 96 mm race boot, with a race spine and a World Cup liner for skiers who want the plastic close to the foot.
All three sit on Salomon's Custom Shell HD lower shell, which is heat-moldable, so your fitter can still open up the plastic around a bunion or a wide forefoot after the boot is built. Which last and which flex you need comes from the shape of your foot and how you ski, not from how a boot feels in the shop for five minutes, so every Salomon fitting at Surefoot starts with a 3D scan. Your fitter uses the scan to choose the shell and the size, and the boot can go home as it comes. If you want more, a custom orthotic holds your foot in a neutral position and a foam-injected Surefoot liner fills the space between your foot and the shell. Both are options at any fitting, not a requirement.
Women's models use a women's-specific cuff and run from the Supra BOA 95 and Alpha 90 to the Supra Dual BOA 115, which adds a second dial on the cuff. If you skied the older Salomon X Pro, the S/Pro replaced it in 2020.

A 3D scan of both feet gives your fitter length, width and arch in millimeters. It is how we choose between the 96, 98 and 100 mm lasts instead of guessing.

Optional at any fitting. Built from your scan in about 30 minutes, it holds your foot in a neutral position so the shell and liner above it can do their jobs.

Also optional. A Surefoot liner is foam-injected around your foot inside the Salomon shell, filling the space a stock liner leaves and setting the fit from day one.

Questions
Are Salomon ski boots narrow or wide?
Salomon builds the S/Pro in three widths. S/Pro Race is 96 mm, S/Pro Alpha is 98 mm and S/Pro Supra is 100 mm, measured across the forefoot at a size 26.5. All three use the heat-moldable Custom Shell HD lower shell, so a fitter can open up the plastic where your foot needs it. A scan tells us which last fits before you try one on.
What is the difference between the Salomon S/Pro Supra and S/Pro Alpha?
Supra is the medium-last all-mountain boot, closed by a BOA dial and cable over the forefoot instead of two buckles, so the lower shell wraps the foot evenly and can be adjusted a click at a time. Alpha is the narrower buckled boot: a 98 mm last, thinner shell walls and a second buckle set at 45 degrees to pull the heel back without pressing on the instep. Skiers with a medium foot who want easy adjustment choose the Supra; skiers with a narrow foot or a low instep who want the plastic close choose the Alpha. If you skied the older Salomon X Pro, the S/Pro replaced it in 2020.
How does the BOA system work on a ski boot?
A dial on the lower shell winds a steel cable through guides across the forefoot and instep. Turn it to tighten in small clicks, open it to release. It replaces the two forefoot buckles; the cuff still closes with a buckle and a power strap, or with a second dial on the Supra Dual BOA. The wrap is spread along the cable rather than concentrated at two buckle points, and it can be loosened for the lift line and snugged back for the run.
Do you sell Salomon ski boots online?
No. Ski boots and liners are fitted in store only. The shell has to be chosen on your foot, and a custom liner or orthotic, if you add one, is built the same day. Which Salomon boot is right for women?
Salomon's women's models use a women's-specific cuff. The S/Pro Supra BOA 95 and the S/Pro Alpha 90 suit progressing skiers, the Supra BOA 105 and Supra Dual BOA 105 suit strong skiers, and the Supra Dual BOA 115 and the S/Pro Race 110 in sizes 22.5 to 26.5 are for experts. Your fitter chooses by foot shape and how you ski, not by the label.
How does Salomon sizing work?
Salomon sizes in mondopoint, which is the length of your foot in centimeters: a 26.5 fits a 26.5 cm foot. The models we carry run in half steps from 22.5 to 31.5. At Surefoot the scan gives us your length and width in millimeters, so you never size a boot from a chart.
