Men's Ski Boots

Ski boots are sized in mondopoint, which is the length of your foot in centimeters rather than a US shoe size. On Nordica's own conversion a US men's 10 is a 28.0, a 12 is a 30.0 and a 13 is a 31.0. Brands publish slightly different tables, and one shell covers a full size, so the 28 and the 28.5 you see listed are the same piece of plastic. Treat the number as a starting point. At a fitting we scan both feet, read the length in millimeters, and check the shell on your foot before anyone picks a size.

Flex is the number in the model name, and on the men's boots here it runs from 100 to 130. It describes how hard the boot is to bend forward. Heavier and stronger skiers, and anyone skiing fast on firm snow, go stiffer. Lighter skiers and softer snow go softer. There is no industry standard behind the number, so a 120 from one brand will not always feel like a 120 from another. Your fitter settles it in store, because the liner and the orthotic under it change how a boot feels.

Not by how it feels on the shop floor for five minutes. A boot that feels roomy standing still is usually too long, and it will pack out and let your heel lift once you ski it. Comfort comes from the shell matching the shape of your foot and from what goes inside it. We scan both feet, then choose the shell and the size on your foot. If you want them, we mill a custom orthotic that holds your foot in a neutral position and foam-inject a liner that fills the space a stock liner leaves.

The men's boots on this page run 22.5 to 31.5 in mondopoint, which is roughly a US men's 4.5 through 13.5 on Nordica's conversion. Not every model runs the whole way. The three that reach 31.5 are the Lange Shadow 130 HV, the Atomic Hawx Magna 130 S and our own Surefoot x Lange Shadow 120 MV shell.
